Goodwill Mission Delegation Visit |

visited the Twin Cities from May 16 to May 18, 2002. Other members

U.S. Wheat Associates. They were accompanied by Kuei-Jung
Huang (front row, first from left),
director of Commercial Division, Taipei Economic & Cultural Office
in Chicago (TECO), and Lawrence Hsiao-Feng Tseng
(back row, center), senior assistant
to Director General of TECO. During their visit, they met with Secretary
of State Mary Kiffmeyer and a few state
legislators. The delegation also signed a joint communique with the
Minnesota Wheat Research and Promotion Council of the United States
of America in which the Taiwan Flour Mills Association expressed its
intent to purchase 1.7 million metric tons of U.S. wheat, including
from Minnesota, in the approximate value of US$264 million in year
of 2002 and 2003. Tsan-Kuo Chang represented
the Taiwanese Association of America-Minnesota Chapter to welcome
them at the Minneapolis Grain Exchange of Minnesota where the joint
communique was signed on May 17. That night, TECO hosted a reception
for the delegation at the Mall of America, which was attended by Congressman
Gil Gutknecht, Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner
Gene Hugoson, State Representative Lyndon
R. Carlson, and officials from the Minnesota Department of
Trade and Economic Development. Vincent Wang
of the Formosan Association for Public Affairs was also present. Point
