For
the first time since its inception, TAAMN has established a memorial scholarship
to commemorate the life of a long time member. Mrs. Li-Huey Lai, a compassionate
woman, had devoted her life to promote Taiwan and its culture in Minnesota.
Li-Huey died on September 8, 2004 during cancer surgery in Rochester. Her
story was reported in a lengthy obituary
in the Star Tribune on |
September 18, 2004. Members of the
TAAMN executive committee met on May 1, 2005 to discuss a proposal to establish
a memorial scholarship in memory of her life and her dedication to the
Taiwanese American community in the Twin Cities. By a unanimous vote, the
scholarship was established, effective immediately. Download the application
