簡 介
舞工廠舞團成立以來，一直認真且積極參與全台各地大大小小的演出，2002年受『英國足跡藝術』之邀，遠赴英國倫敦展開巡迴演出；並入選為國家級的表演藝術巡演團隊；次年更應邀參加『澳門藝穗節』，成為臺灣第一個以踢踏舞蹈作為演出節目參與國際藝術節的表演團體。
舞工廠舞團一直將『藝術生活化』與『生活藝術化』當成最重要的課題，因此我們開始將踢踏舞帶入校園，幾年來受惠學生已經多達六萬人，並持續成長。2004年舞工廠以踢踏舞製作『what’s up』大型演出；2005年更再次獲得『英國足跡藝術』的肯定，受邀至英國演出；2006年應美國『紐約踢踏節』製作單位的邀請，成為臺灣第一個站上國際踢踏節舞台的表演團體，；四度入選為表演藝術團隊基層及校園巡迴團隊，並於2007與2008年受國家文化建設委員會肯定，分別入選為扶植團隊。
舞工廠舞團於2007年更大規模舉辦台北踢踏節，一舉讓臺灣躍升為亞洲最有規模的踢踏據點；同年舞工廠舞團製作的大型踢踏舞劇『踢踏密碼Tap
Code』，更成為臺灣踢踏舞發展的重要里程碑。舞工廠舞團積極推廣踢踏舞，期望藉由演出及活動，帶給踢踏舞嶄新的新〝聲〞命。
Ever since the DanceWorks Ensemble was established, we have been avid participants in Taiwan dance events of every kind and size. In 2002, after many years of touring the island, we got our first major international gig: performances in London and other UK venues at the invitation of Step Out Arts. After that highly successful tour, DanceWorks were elevated to the status of a National Performance Arts Ensemble. In the following year, we participated in the Macao “Fringe 2003 Festival”, becoming Taiwan’s first ever pure tap company to perform at an international arts festival.
“Make Art a Part of Life” and “Make Life More Artistic” has always been our double motto and the ultimate goal of all our endeavors. With this in mind, we have begun to promote tap dance in local schools and universities, reaching more than 60,000 students over the past few years. And the scope of our activities is still growing! In 2004, DanceWorks produced the large-scale tap show “What’s Up”, and in 2005 we received another invitation by Step Out Arts to tour England. In 2006, DanceWorks became Taiwan’s first dance ensemble ever to perform at the world’s largest tap event, the “New York Tap Festival”. In the same year, we were yet again elected as a National Performance Arts Ensemble, and also appointed as Taiwan Dance Ambassadors. Further recognition came in 2007 and 2008, when we were nominated by the Council of Cultural Affairs as government-sponsored national ensemble.
In 2007, DanceWorks went even bigger when we hosted the Taipei Tap Festival “Tap Together”, an event that overnight established Taiwan as Asia’s premier tap dance hub. In the same year, DanceWorks produced the large-scale tap ballet “Tap Code”, another milestone in the history of tap dance in Taiwan. DanceWorks will continue on its road of promoting and spreading tap dance via performances, activities and dance courses, so that this great art may reach more and more people.
